I mean there’s “urgent” and “death imminent”...right? I hope to do a very large refresh on this this summer.
Please don’t judge me.
I love this truck, but I only got a garage in January to actually start keeping it in shape. It’s spent 34 years outdoors, 20 of those in a salt area ( Edmonton, AB).
It has 134,000km or 83,000 miles. Also, a lot of the work/maintenance was done either by me or on my high school budget ($0).
In addition to the below, the front shock is weeping and all the bushings are SOL.
Oil leaks: Valve cover and main seal
Exhaust: Holier than the Pope

I’m judging the use of a Fram oil filter and nothing else. You need us to buy you some Napa gold filters and throw them over the border?

Napa Gold = Wix = Hastings I was once told...

FRAM IT!
I think that I typically use a NAPA gold, I think i was at a crappy tire last summer and got that.

So, what’s wrong with it? I’ve been driving around the 4Runner with torn CV’s and almost non-existent tie rod end bushings. I have the parts, but... The speedometer hasn’t worked since 2014, tried to fix it, the sleeve for the sensor broke into the trans, and... Yeah, the valve covers are crying oil, the fuel filter might be original, the exhaust is leaking all over, the rear window hasn’t rolled down since 2016, and then there are yesterday's overheating issues... And those are just things that I acknowledge.

Sorry to here about that. That’s all they sell at Walmart anymore so I’ve started waiting for sales at Autozone or Napa to buy my oil and filters. Mobile 1 is expensive!

That doesn’t seem like too much? Rust limited to the exhaust sounds wonderful.

Man apprehended by US Boarder patrol today while allegedly throwing oil filters across the boarder. Witnesses report him screaming, “Fram is crap, for the love of all that is holy use NAPA gold!”

Ahhh, Niggly things of the vintage. Main seal and the bushings kind of suck though.
I’m procrastinating on doing the brakes (about 20% left) on the car because of the corrosion and I gotta knock off the lip off the rotors because of the sport pads. The moto’s going to need it’s fronts pads done this summer and the coolant changed. I figure around the same time as the rear tire change. I figure at 30k km.

Wouldn’t stress the main seal(s?). Valvecover gasket is pretty easy on the S6, shouldn’t be much money either. Would do the exhaust leak pretty quick though. Shocks and the bushings would be good... Not bad for what’s wrong considering the age.
When you get a chance take a thorough look at the frame where the steering box attaches and check for cracks and anything questionable. Saving up for a steering box brace/frame reinforcement bracket wouldn’t hurt, just in case. JY or aftermarket fab parts can be found, so cost can be cheap or a bunch.

86,000 / 34 = babied. In need of an overhaul, but babied. You’ll get it running well again.
Exhaust is obviously saved for when you have the cash, which I assume isn't now because you've been unemployed recently, but knocking off that grease and maybe replacing a few bushings seems attainable over a weekend.

Poor 4Runner!

walmart signed a deal with advance auto. Which is why a bunch of “th ei r” stuff is now “fulfilled by Advance Auto”. used to be my oil go-to of K&N filter and mobil 1 at walmart.

It’s weird when you have a Chevy and a Toyota and can honestly say the Chevy was much more thought out for longevity, but that is 2nd gen 4Runner life.

I've got all that, but my speedometer worked! Certainly did not on my '89 though...
